The Cold Truth about your Refrigerator!

Unique as a finger print what lies behind the door of your refrigerator has a lot to say about you!  My refrigerator for example is stuffed with holiday leftovers  today.    For me and my taste leftovers are nice to have on hand but can be bit cumbersome and annoying!   Take this morning for example I  had difficulty locating my non-fat carton of milk.  Sadly,  it had been  shoved out of its rightful place by a stack of plastic containers filled with potatoes,  green bean casserole and pumkin pie!  After my refrigerator diving and quietly drinking the milk straight from the carton a thought came to mind, what does everyone else have in their refrigerator?  What does it look like on a normal day? What does it say about that person or family?  I believe these are deep questions that need to be answered.  Well at least I think so anyway!

Take this family for example.  They either really , really like milk or maybe they have a calcium deficiency!  Who knows?  I don’t know, you tell me?

For some people (like me) there is more of an emotional attachment !

Perhaps you find  your refrigerator serves  well for extra storage!

Your refrigerator might display your unusual  gift for color coding!

Or maybe you are one of those individuals who frequents the refrigerator hoping above all hopes that by some magical refrigerator trickery a new food group will suddenly appear out of no where?  Ya, I thought so!

And what about the contents in your refrigerator?  Just how healthy are you?

Do you have a wide variety of items like flowers and a Star Wars Princess Leah cup cake?  See, what I mean?  Now we’re getting somewhere!

My son Zachary feels very strongly that Catsup and photography film is the Zen like formula to  his well balanced (apartment) refrigerator. What is it with men and Catsup anyway?

Just how aggressive are you about the things you love in your refrigerator.  Apparently “April” has had previous issues!

These days I’m finding a practical use for my refrigerator. Turns out its a great place to cool off during the height of my hot flashes and squeeze in some casual reading!

So lets examine the outside of your refrigerator!

Do you use it to display your family art?

Or a photo gallery of your beloved pets?

And at what point do you say it might be a bit much?

Or have you discovered the perfect simple art of display!

The type of refrigerator says a lot about your personal style.  Nowadays there are so many colors and styles to choose from! What does yours look like?

And when you’re done with your refrigerator maybe you will donate it to the “fridgehenge” art scupture!  Its an idea ??

The important thing to remember is let your refrigerator creativity soar!

Oh and one last thing!  The next time a couple of kids call your phone and ask you if your  refrigerator is running….you’ll know what to say!  Old jokes never die!

  1. Wow! What a great collection of refrigerators!
I do nat have my own fridge at the moment, but when I have one it will be awesome :-D

  2. This was so much fun! Hilarious pics! :)
I do not own a refrigerator either but I remember the one I had back at my parent’s place…a purple one!! It was an age old vintage fridge and when the cream paint started peeling off we decided to play:)

As for the refrigerator insides that I live with now:
    1. In times of great stress or disillusionment, it calls me secretly and very persuasively. And yes, I can be seen peering inside often, hoping new and interesting food would appear out of nowhere!:)
    2. Permanent features: A greens section, a fruit shelf, a cheese shelf, a juice shelf, and a section for different butters and fruit preserves. The rest of it is literally history (the left overs!)
    3. Freezer section is the oddest one- mostly empty except for a few green herbs I might have frozen or ice cream and ethanol. I tend not to freeze raw or cooked food…always trying to consume things asap and not keeping them around for too long.

However, #3 might be a fallacy. I remember reading somewhere that frozen food is often more fresh than that which is not…
    What do you think?

    • In regard to the frozen food from what I understand if the produce is frozen right away and sealed really well to avoid freezer burn its basically like canning your food without the salt!! Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing Juicer! Always love your comments! And by the way…..love the idea of a purple fridge!!!! Awesome!!!

      Love ya!

Great post, Vicki… Loved the pictures, especially the cooties, as I laughed out loud…

Mostly, my fridge has fresh veggies and juices and the like…

Sorry, boring I know, but it’s what I eat… I don’t like any processed stuff, or any GMO foods… Yuk.

    *laughter*

The outside is covered with pictures of all my nearest and dearest, as well as slogans that inspire me, so, does that count? I just have to see my buds, so there are NEVER too many pictures of them, and since I have a mind like a sieve, the slogans are helpful…

And yes, I DO look at them… ALL of them…

    • I remember your hall of fame on the fridge! Its wonderful ! Up until recently I had a gallery of photos on my fridge as well but my kitchen is smaller now and I’ve moved all the photos to a magnet board!

Great to see you hun and happy that you had a good laugh!

      Hugs

  4. Wow Vicki! You’ve outdone yourself! This is fabulous! Just to find a sampling like this is amazing enough, or maybe it means we as a people have a preoccupation with our refrigerators!

I am a pack-rat when I’m alone, spartan when in company. So’s my refrigerator. Go figure.

Among the stray birds adorning mine is still the scotched up page for mom. My picture, my name, my phone, and why she was living here and that it was all alright. From days when she couldn’t remember much. How many years old is that now? But I just wanna keep it around even if she’s not.

What’s inside? Won’t say. Too much. But it includes a small carton of chocolate ice cream – my first since summer last. Makes no sense, but I wanted it. Maybe I’ll remember to eat it soon?

And in honor of the season, this quote I adore from a recent PBS program on the hardy northern folk. A Norwegian aphorism.

    There is no bad weather.
    There is only bad clothing.

    • Chocolate Ice Cream….a man after my own heart!!!

Love the quote! Thanks for your consistent loving comments! You’re adorable Mr. Neil!
      Thank you for checking in!!!

      Love ya!

  5. aaaahhh, you know I love vintage fridge doors. Art by themselves! I have a weird obsession with NOT putting photos on a fridge door. Just me, ok for everyone else. In fact, I love looking at other people’s fridge door art. I think because I shoot so many photos as a photographer that I know my door would be covered top to bottom. Great post Vicki! Love it.

    • Thank Timm! And yes I know you love fridge doors…cause I remember quite well the fridge door hanging on your wall displaying art work! I actually found a photo with the very same idea. I immediately thought of you!
Glad you enjoyed the post !!!

      Love you!

  6. seanfraser

My mum use to put her mohair jumpers in the fridge….you are meant to keep them away from heat but I think she went a little too far……… I remember they were brilliant colors……mostly pink and light blue.

    PS
Mohair is stronger than steel of the same diameter….so Superman the ‘Man of Steel’ would be no match for ‘Mohair Man’…sounds a bit gay

  7. LOL!!!! You’re so funny Sean!!! Love the Mohair story!!! Wish I had a photo of those jumpers in a fridge! Now that would be awesome!!!
    Thanks for sharing hun!

Maybe we all should start calling you “Mohair Man” since I think you are a man of steel mixed with a very tender heart!!!

    Love Ya MM!!!

    Big Hugs!

  8. Why did you have to show a pic of that fab fridge….especially open?
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have an amazing New Year Vicki!

    • Hi Sweetie! This is so funny!!! I just left a comment on your blog!!!! Are you missing American Food?

I hope you’re feelin better hun and things are back to normal!!!

      Love ya kid!!! Many Hugs!!!

    • LOL FJ!! Do you know you were the first person that I witnessed putting film in the fridge? Now Zach does it!!!

Thank you for takin the time to visit me!!
      Love u
